Documentation Matters: Human-Centered AI System to Assist Data Science Code Documentation in Computational Notebooks

چکیده

Computational notebooks allow data scientists to express their ideas through a combination of code and documentation. However, often pay attention only the code, neglect creating or updating documentation during quick iterations. Inspired by human practices learned from 80 highly-voted Kaggle notebooks, we design implement Themisto, an automated generation system explore how human-centered AI systems can support in machine learning scenario. Themisto facilitates creation via three approaches: deep-learning-based approach generate for source query-based retrieve online API user prompt nudge users write We evaluated within-subjects experiment with 24 science practitioners, found that techniques reduced time writing documentation, reminded participants document they would have ignored, improved participants’ satisfaction computational notebook.

Style Guide for Voting System Documentation: Why User-Centered Documentation Matters to Voting Security

In this paper, we assert that usability and security for poll workers are intimately linked in enabling free, fair, and secure elections. By focusing on these important but often neglected users of voting systems in designing voting systems, unintended security problems can be avoided. The overall goal of our research was to create a framework for voting system manufacturers to meet the require...

Computational Notebooks for AI Education

Computational notebooks are documents that serve dual purposes: they serve as an archive format containing code, text, images and equations; but they can also be run like computer programs. This paper explores the use of these new computational notebooks to teach AI and introduces tools that we have developed — ICalico and Calysto — to facilitate that use. Not only do these new tools broaden th...

A Computational Model Library for publishing model documentation and code

We present a repository for disseminating the computational models associated with publications in the social and life sciences. The number of research projects using computational models has been steadily increasing but the resulting publications often lack model code and documentation which hinders replication, verification of results and accumulation of knowledge. We have developed an open r...

Deflating information: From science studies to documentation

Let's read! We will often find out this sentence everywhere. When still being a kid, mom used to order us to always read, so did the teacher. Some books are fully read in a week and we need the obligation to support reading. What about now? Do you still love reading? Is reading only for you who have obligation? Absolutely not! We here offer you a new book enPDFd deflating information from scien...
